***This page is for the second demo of my game***

A Drop Of Your Blood is a first person horror game based on the Hmong culture.  The Hmong people is an Asian ethnic group in China and Southeast Asia.   This will be the first horror game to be based on our cultures, so I hope you guys will like it.

This is a free demo for you guys to try out and give me feedback.

Background

In the Hmong culture, there are a lot of traditions, myths, and stories passed down from generation to generation, but one of the most prominent one is the forbidden oath, also known as the blood oath.    In our culture, the blood oath is made by two lovers who want to be with each other for the rest of their lives.  To do the blood oath, you and your lover just simply poke each other's hands, drink a drop of their blood, and make a promise.

The elders always told us to never do a blood oath with someone no matter how much you love them because if you do, you guys will be bound for life spiritually.  After that, if you or your lover die prematurely, your spirits will not be able to go to the afterlife until both of you are dead.  If one of the lover die before the other,  this usually results in early mysterious death of the lover who is still alive too.  The elders said that this is because the dead lover came back and took the other one with them.

The Story/Backstory of the game.

"In this lifetime, no, in all of time, I will love you and only you.  My heart, in which a drop of your blood has seeped into, will belong only to you.  This declaration, may the earth and sky bear witness to it."

The forbidden oath.

Widely known as the blood oath.

An oath make by two lovers who want to be with each other for the rest of their lives.

It is formed when a couple drinks a drop of each other's blood.

Unlike a wedding oath, it does not bind them together in the eyes of society.

While the wedding oath binds each other together until death do them part, the blood oath binds them together in death.

People do it for various reasons - for some, it is for proof of their love.  For others, it is done when one or both their parents refuse to let them join hands in marriage.

For many lovers, they do not consider the consequence of the blood oath, thinking only of it as an act of formality.

That is, until it is too late and they finally come to realize the weight of their promises.

----------------------

As you guys can probably tell by now, the game is about two lovers who decided to do the blood oath, also with my own twists in it too.

That's all for now.  If you guys find any bugs or unwanted gameplay, feel free to send me a message either to my facebook fan page www.facebook.com/fueker , to my email fueker@yahoo.com, or here.

No no. A drop of YOUR blood, bitch! Duuuuuh

  cool game

I thought this was really cool! I had some issues with game visibility due to the motion blur, but that is also partially because my computer wasn't handling it too well (i was getting a low framerate). Can't wait to play the full game!!

Hey, thank you!   Do you mind telling me the spec of your computer?  So I can have a better  idea of what computers can be strong enough to run it.

This is just a laptop, not a gaming computer, but here:
AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx     2.10 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (5.95 GB usable)
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

OMGG NEVER IM MY LIFE I'LL EVER SEE A HMONG VIDEO GAME BEFORE!!! Once I saw the hmong clothing I'd just have to play the game despite me not liking horror games! and the game is amazing! I'm so happy to see a video game where there's hmong representation! Can't wait to see more!

Haha thank you!  I appreciate you checking it out.  Anything you don't like, feel free to tell me so I can make it even better!

Amazing game FueKer! Great job on everything man except... Chenou's common sense xD I can't say this is a demo game at all... It looks finished .. I love the cliff hanger at the end but we all know what happened though maybe ....

The demo has a good storyline as well as a creepy vibe! It is cool that someone put into perspective of the stories that our parents and elders would tell us.

It has been almost a year since the last demo for "A Drop Of Your Blood".  The first demo mainly took place in a traditional Hmong funeral home, while the new second demo takes place in the past of an old traditional Hmong village. Here is a quick review of my current thoughts. Pros:

  1.  Atmosphere has improved. The fog really adds to the horror.
  2.  More emphasis on the story this time around. Can't wait to see the full game build on this.
  3. Graphics don't look that bad! Map design is well thought out mostly.
  4.  Some puzzle-solving mechanics! I love me some puzzles.

Cons:

  1.  Invisible walls can be annoying.
  2.  Can sometimes feel like a hallway simulator.  (There is one part where it literally feels very claustrophobic).
  3.  The "jump scare" animation could use some work.
  4.  Pacing could be better.

It's super exciting to see a Hmong-based game to receive as much attention as this one in the Hmong community. I can only hope that this game will inspire more creators to come out and create more content in the future.

Overall, the demo is a solid 6.8/10.  There are some scares (nothing too bad), the story does get you invested a bit. When you do get caught, the janky animation of the monsters do sort of take me out of it. I am however,  super curious to see how the full game (or next demo) turns out when it all comes together. FueKer, keep up the good work! Can't wait to see what's next for this game's future.

Here's a video of my friend playing the second demo (highlights):

Accidentally deleted my post LOL. Re-posted here!

Thank you so much for the awesome feedback!   I agree with you.  I can see what you mean by the animations.  Most of the animations there, especially the jumpscares, are from a professional animation website, so I initially thought they would be good enough.  I'll see what I can do to improve upon it!

Very much looking forward to it! Lots of potential still. Plus I loved the Shaman design. Super badass lol.

Hey I just want to say thanks again for the invisible wall feedback.  Instead of the invisible walls, I instead replaced them with fences and the environment looks so much better.  Thanks!

Nice! Yeah, invisible walls can definitely be immersion breaking (and sometimes annoying lol).

Thank you for the feedback!  I agree with you there.  I will see what I can do to improve upon it.

Idk bout you guys but when I try to play the game ... it just keeps spinning and spinning me which makes it unplayable. I thought it was my mouse but replaced it with another one and it still does it. Redownloaded from your site still don't work so not sure.

Yeah man some people have been reporting that to me too.  I'm working hard on it trying to see why, as no matter what I do here, I can't replicate that bug at all.

Very odd bug but okay no worries! Just update us on it when you get a fix :) .. I turned off the mouse sensitivity and it stopped it but couldn't move my mouse anymore LOL, I didn't think it was an efficient move since we get chased in your games.

When I adjusted the mouse sense to 0.1 it kept turning but it was a slower turn but still unable to really focus. Hopefully that helps or points you to the right direction of troubleshooting.

Oh yeah, are you also plugging in a ps or xbox controller into your pc?

Yes I had my PS controller plugged in, I did not even think about that! But I unplugged it and the problem went away Thanks man!!

And you thought the first demo was scary, wait till you play the 2nd demo.

I love the length of the game play, and the storyline! There were a good amount of jump scares. I had to cover my face a few times otherwise i would get nightmares seeing the ghost,  or Gaochee. I can't wait to see where this game goes.

I was looking forward to playing the second demo after playing the first demo, and looking forward to the full game release!!! Awesome demos! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIiWSos9dBFTsRHb0BvfZRR615ytehsuo

Definitely way more polished than the last one! i loved every aspect of this game although there were some typos and mispelled words. I think having more of a tip/help info popping up while in a chase or something like that would help. It can be an optional thing where u can turn off and on the tips/help in the option menu. I can see people getting lost and not know what to do. The hmong ghost definitely looks way more scarier and you definitely outdone yourself with scenes and chases! Loving the tedious work of going back and forth cause thats what makes it more of a horror game! Although dont overdo the tedious work as it tends to get annoying and not fun. Overall i think this was one of the best demo yet! Although i felt like the first one was scarier ONLY because it was base on a inclose environment. But keep it up! Support all the way!

Wow, that was a long demo and it was so good. I am surprised how well fear was built up in the game, and it did not require jumpscares. I was curious by the way the story went, and there are so many questions on how many ghosts there are, and what each of them are doing.

The horrors were built in such simple ways but they worked so well, I ended up paying attention to what was going on in the distance expecting something else to happen. It was also interesting at no point is something not happening, there is always a ghost or something the player has to deal with.

The amount of unique ways you can make gameplay without needing to create new environments, especially when you were having to walk backwards, it was so creepy that I could lose direction and die, while needing to find everything.

I did laugh when the ghost ran past me, for some reason I just found it so funny when I was running at the same time. I sort of was expecting it to face me and smile, as if it was mocking me for being slow.

I can’t wait to play the full release of the game.

this was good and more a full game imo :D i hope you enjoy the vid and my ranting :D

Very well done.

*SPOILERS ALERT*

This was a really, really cool horror game that really made use of the Hmong culture and an intriguing storyline to attract players to play the entire game without feeling bored at all to find out what happens next in the story. The game made use of horror elements involving forests, darkness, haunted village, narrow roads, chasing and hiding and other interesting horror elements that made me enjoy the game a lot. My favorite part of the game was the part when the player had to walk over the ghost or not. It was really interesting to walk backwards to pick up wooden planks to walk over the ghost. The random horrifying moments when "Gaochee" appears during conversations with Gaochee also made the game more horrifying and fun. Moreover, I also enjoyed the comedic part of the game where a guy was hiding from a ghost XD.

After playing the 2nd demo, I am really looking forward to the actual full game because I am really interested about what happens next in the story as well as how more Hmong cultural practices will play a big role in other parts of the game. The fact that the creator of the game is able to make use of different elements in horror in different parts of the game successfully causes the transitioning of the game from one point to another to be really smooth and enjoyable. I also liked the way that the creator of the game slowly introduced more mechanics in the game by allowing the player to test the game mechanic first through small events before making the player use it for big events. This ensures that players don't get lost or confused while playing the game.

Some small improvements that I suggest is to change the font of the "loading" and other similar fonts as it doesn't match the style of the game (for me) and maybe add more objects in Gaochee's house and other locations so that the the houses doesn't look so empty. Voice acting would also be really good for this game and an amazing title design/image for the game to immediately attract the player's attention would be cool as well.

Thank you for reading my comment and I wish you good luck in your future endeavours.
